goSupertools - Designer Spotlight: RaggieFO
In the Spotlight: RaggieFO!

This news segment is fully dedicated to put a designer in the spotlight. We've asked them about themselves, their creations, their process and their inspirations. This spotlight is for and by RaggieFO!

Let's introduce!

Hii I'm Raggie and I'm 25 years old. I started on gsm back in early 2009 when I was 8 years old, and came back to gsm 2.0 as soon as I heard about it!<3

Back in the old days I did dream about becoming a JD and played around with the on-site designer a lot (I was really bad tho) I did apply for some comps and things tho haha

In 2.0 I did join a JD comp, and some other design comps. I cannot describe how happy I was when I was one of the winners in the Halloween design comp and I got my first ever item into the gsm store

Idk if I have a design style? I have been going for semi realistic for a while, but realising most people like outlines, I have been adding it to my more recent designs. I have been drawing outside of gsm for many years (both traditional and digital), which has mostly been realistic people or cartoony characters. In recent years I've been looking into pixel art, which led very well into trying some stuff for gsm hihi

Design process and inspiration

When I design, I usually start with a mental brainstorm of what kind of vibe I want to make. I might use google images or pinterest for inspo, and then I'll start blocking in simple shapes onto the model until I like what I see. Then I'll slowly refine the shape and render in details more and more.

Personally I use procreate on my iPad for designing.
Seeing other designers pieces will also inspire me to make new pieces, and I dont even know where I'd start if I were to list all my inspirations, there are sooo many talented designers! I can however give a lil shoutout to Hastings for the tutorial videos they made, as it helped me a lot in my hairs-only design.<3

I always design in a semi-vibrant colour, as it makes recolouring items much easier later. I've realised that designing in yellow is never good, as it's a really difficult colour to work with when recolouring ahaha, and if you design in black/white it's also quite a lot of work to add in colour after (as opposed to just dropping the opacity in a full colour design).

Also I've learned over time that I need to make my designs wayyy more saturated than what's comfortable, cause most of my early designs looked perfect on my iPad but super dull once I uploaded them to gsm

Past, Present and Future

One of my favourite designs is the autumn pants I made, definitely the piece I spent the most time on in that set! It is also my first design collab with some people from the gsm designer discord. We were originally 3, but in the end it became me and Ekaemma who made it to the end. It was an autumn design with the theme "fallen leaves".
Another one has to be the hair from my froggy design.

Its one I find myself using again and again in my own fits, I really love it. Hair is something I've always struggled with, so I'm extra happy I managed to make a decent one.

The smiley face design is a really fun one in my opinion, and it's all centered around the colourful pants. I made them way before the rest, and knew I had to make a full design around it, as I loved the pants.<3

My next upcoming design is a pastel goth outfit. So far I've only finished some shorts and skirt, and have yet to figure out the rest haha. On the gsm designer discord we were talking about doing a goth collab, so this is for that one (no idea when it will be finished though) 😉
