It's finally live! The community design tool is open to the public and we've been flooded with amazing, inspiring and funky designs from such a big group of designers. A first week with more than 70 drops and more than 300 individual items (without recolors). Who knew that there were so many great designers among us!?
Let's look back at some of the inspiring and eye-catching happenings from this first week in our new bulletin about community designs.
Last SNAIL standing
The first day of community designs was a fun event, however... it did cause a little bit of a panic. _Fraven's amazing snail design was the cause of events, jokes and even a cult like following. Within minutes, countless users wore the snail item. Why? Well, it may have had something to do with the fact that the base skin being attached to the snail. The item is now deleted, but it's 7 days later, and there is still a competition going on who will be the last one to wear the original snail.
Art inspires! In the past we've seen quite some items that were inspired by famous art. Did you spot that one of the first drops also included a reference to a famous painting? Jopie's time traveler design featured a melting clock, inspired by the painting 'The Persistence of Memory' by Dali!
Though not only art inspires, also real life! It's one thing to design an item fitting for the model base, but it's another to work smart and shift its shape. This first week a few designs tested the boundaries of the base and created a new form for the model. Green played with the shape of the arms, whilst St4rlet and victoria. transformed the base bodies.
You can of course also ignore the humanoid nature of the base model and go for something fishy like Dain has created! And who ever said that hair doesn't have eyes? Arimwe loves to prove you wrong!
With the community design tool, everyone is able to upload their designs. However, not everyone is as skilled as our goDesigners and ex-Junior Designers. The amazing community however has quite some inspiring guides to help you out:
- Silk design tutorial by Priestley
- Recoloring tips by Mikah
- Design walkthroughs by Hastings
(this list is incomplete, if you have more guides, let us know and we'll add them to the next post)
GoSupertools
As goSupertools, we want to help users and designers as much as possible. We've been trying to help users navigate through the chaotic first week by listing all the designers and posting the sets in boards.
With the upcoming update, the team is working hard on creating a designer platform. It's still a little bit of a surprise, but hopefully we can share this soon. If you have any wishes or ideas for us, do let us know in our club forum!
We hope you've enjoyed this post. If you've missed anything or want to contribute to the next post, please let us know!
Stay creative <3
